Public Meeting at Rainbow Beach Field House on July 27, 2011

The fifth public meeting was held in the South Shore neighborhood at the Rainbow Beach Field House. Attendees were great sports as they stayed through a hot summer night to talk about pedestrian issues.  Some topics that were discussed at the meeting included:

  • Ensuring that the (sometimes extreme) Chicago weather is taken into account when installing pedestrian infrastructure
  • Having a balanced transportation network that can accommodate users of different modes of transport
  • Improving pedestrian barriers, such as highway viaducts
  • The different government agencies that have jurisdiction over infrastructure in Chicago
